Cremona is a small town rich with artistic, historical and cultural valuables deeply linked to its musical, lutherie and organ-making tradition in particular, and also to its typical products and natural  resources. Cremona is the world capital of the art of violin and string making, a title of which the town is really proud, and it was also home to the workshop of revered luthier Antonio Stradivari.

The art of making bowed string instruments is a tradition that is kept alive and lively by more than 150 luthiers’ shops that every day carry on the glorious tradition of the great Cremonese violin maker Antonio Stradivari. Nowadays Cremona holds an International School of Violin-making (Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria) in Palazzo Raimondi, a 16th-century building in the historic core of the city, where you can see budding violin-makers taught by the descendants of the old masters.

At the end of the city tour stop in a shop for a tasting of typical products of Cremona, with possibility of buying mustards, provolone dop, dop grana padano, salami and Cremonese Nougat.

The Cremona Violin Museum is dedicated to violins, music making and luthiers, including Antonio Stradivari. The Violin Museum is dedicated to the origins and history of the violin and stringed instruments.

CREMONA VIOLIN ATELIER

Visit of a violin atelier with little private concert music demonstration. In entering the workshops of a violin maker in Cremona you will be surrounded  by the natural resins and wood fragrances. Here you can see how violins, violas, cellos and double basses for professional players have been made since the 16th century.
