VENICE – DAY 1

Venice, famous for its casino and its carnival, known as the “city on water”, can be appreciated in many ways, strolling along the narrow streets flanked by canals and colored houses, sailing over along the Grand Canal to admire the splendor of the palaces or going to the little islands to be surprised by the local craft productions.  The wonderful Murano, the island of blown glass, and Burano, the fishers’ village with its multi-colored houses, are must-to-see locations.  Also the non-touristic district of Giudecca offers charming landscapes and the real face of Venice. The city & its lagoon are so beautiful to have been named World heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.

Program of the workshop:

Afternoon – h 14.00 meeting and greeting with the photographer Paolo De Faveri at the hotel. Walking through the narrow streets and along the canals surrounding San Marco Square to photograph not only some of Venice highlights (San Marco Cathedral, Bell Tower, Doge’s Palace and Biblioteca Marciana) but also small and intimate subjects, such as architectural elements, shop’s windows, building facades.

Sunset – from Riva degli Schiavoni you can take pictures of the sun setting behind the Giudecca Island and the Church of La Salute.

Night – if it’s not too cold and the weather is favorable, you could spend about one hour taking night pictures of Rialto Bridge or San Marco Square.

VENICE – DAY 2

Program of the workshop

Sunrise – from Punta della Dogana you can photograph the sun rising behind the Giudecca Island and the Church of San Giorgio in the background.

Morning & Afternoon – after breakfast, you walk to the Accademia Bridge, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the final part of Gran Canal and the Church of La Salute in the background. Here you can try long exposures for your pictures. You reach the worldwide known La Fenice Opera House and continue towards north to the Sestiere (district) Castello and then to the Sestiere of San Giovanni and Polo.

VENICE – DAY 3

Program of the workshop:

Sunrise – get the “vaporetto” (the typical ferryboat) about 1 hour before sunrise to reach the Lido Island, the narrow and long strip of land just east of the city centre; here you will shoot sunrise from the beach and then the Venice skyline, a different view of this charming town.

Morning – after breakfast at a cafeteria, you get the vaporetto back to San Marco Square. Here you will see Venice from a different point of view crossing through its canals by a gondola.

Afternoon – after lunch you reach the genuine district of Cannareggio to shoot beautiful reflections of canals of this amazing area of Venice and to discover the old Jewish district where Shakespeare set his drama “The Merchant of Venice”.
