Murgia region Tour – Apulia
This tour is a combination of authenticity, history, culture and nature of unparalleled beauty that expresses the values typical of the Murgia region in Apulia. The itinerary revolves around many local features connected with the Murgia countryside and its rural productions and traditions. Minervino Murge is a recommended stop for lunch at Masseria Barbera, a building which dates from the eighteen century, where You can admire stretches of olive groves and vineyards. The recent restoration has transformed the barns, with the characteristic vaults a lamia, typical of the region, and the historic natural stone floors, into an inviting dining hall where You can enjoy typical dishes and products, served with wine and extra-virgin olive oil with the Barbera label.
Arriving for the first time in this corner of Puglia You will surely be captured by fascinating landscapes which still retain precious signs of centuries-old traditions passed down by the people who inhabited in the past. The route goes around Castel del Monte, part of the ancient villages of Andria and Corato and walks “refreshed” by the flavors of the typical regional cuisine. Commissioned by Frederick II of Swabia in the 13th Century, the castle is one of the 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.
